1. For the first map, show the dynamics of European settlement during the colonial era. This should include the main regions or states of the country in about 1750, as well as the predominant ethnic groups for three states or regions. You can choose among African, Dutch, English, German, Scots-Irish, Scottish, Swedish, and Welsh. You should also show the approximate locations of where three American Indian tribes had lived before 1700. (empty map attached)

2. Thinking about white settlers only, what pattern did you find in the two maps you drew? What happened to American Indians? What happened to slaves? Was their migration forced or voluntary?

3. How did these migrations shape the identity of American settlers? Of American Indians? Of slaves?
