Answer:

Curved surface area of cylinder=821.17cm^2

Step-by-step explanation:

Your question:-

Four times the area of the curved surface of a cylinder is equal to 6 times the sum of the area of its bases. If its height is 14 cm, find the curved surface area

Your solution:-

Formulas to remember:-

  • Curved surface area of cylinder:-2πrh
  • sum of the Area of base of cylinder:-πr^2+πr^2

Now, we are given that Area of base of cylinder is 6 times to the 4 times the curved surface area of cylinder.

Therefore:-

: 4×2πrh=6πr^2+πr^2

: 8πrh-12πr^2=0

: 8h-12r=0

: 8h=12r

: 8(14)=12r

: 112=12r

: r=9.34cm

Now we have Radius(r)=9.34cm, height=14cm, π=3.14 or 22/7.

Implementing given values:-

Curved surface area of cylinder=2πrh

C.S.A of cylinder=2×3.14×9.34×14

C.S.A=821.17cm^2 (approx)

Hence the curved surface area of cylinder=821.17cm^2
