Given : X = 0.85 Y and Y = 0.89 X

To Find :  co-efficient of correlation

Solution:

X = 0.85 Y

Comparing with

X=a + b_{XY}Y

=> b_{XY}=0.85

Y = 0.89 X

Comparing with

Y=a + b_{YX}X

=> b_{YX}=0.89

co-efficient of correlation  = \sqrt{(b_{XY})(b_{YX})}

=> co-efficient of correlation  = √(0.85)(0.89)

=> co-efficient of correlation  = √0.7565

=>  co-efficient of correlation  = 0.8698

=>  co-efficient of correlation  = 0.87
