First if all write a balance reaction

2Mg +O2 -------> 2Mgo

Now 2 moles of Mg react with 1 mol of oxygen

32g oxygen react with 48 gram of magnesium

Apply unitary method

32g ofO2 reacts with 48 g magnesium

so, 1g of O2 will teact 48/32

Therefore, 0.56g of O2 will react

= 48x0.56/32

=0.84 gm magnesium

This is the amount of magnesium that have been react with oxygen so

left amount----->(1-0.84=0.16)
