1) Though both the terms are interrelated, however both the terms doesn't holds thesame meaning. Heredity is just the transmission of characteristics of one generation to the next successive generation. Genetics is the study of heredity, but its not limited to heredity. Its a broad subject deals with various aspects.

2) This statement is false. The phrase "like begets like" refers to asexual reproduction. Several animals and plants divide asexually to produce offsprings that are identical (genetically) to their parents. Therefore, this applies to both animals and plants.

3) This is true. Causes of differences between individuals include independent assortment, the exchange of genes (crossing over and recombination) during reproduction (through meiosis) and various mutational events. There are at least three reasons why genetic variation exists between populations.
