1. Give reasons for the following:
a. Gold and silver are used in jewellary.
b. Copper cannot displace hydrogen from dilute acids.
c. Stainless steel does not rust easily.
d. Metals can be given different shapes according to our needs.
e. Zinc does not give hydrogen gas on reacting with HNO3.​

Answer:

a) Gold and silver are used in jewellery because they hardly react with water that 's why they didn 't get rust and they look superior they are not destroyed by chemical reaction... Gold and silver are used to make jewellerybecause they are precious and expensive metals

b)Copper cannot displace hydrogen from dilute acid because copper is less reactive then hydrogen

c)Stainless steal does not rust easily because Stainless steel remains stainless, or does not rust, because of the interaction between its alloying elements and the environment.

d)Metals are malleable and ductile at the same time, therefore they can be given different shapeseasily. 

e)Nitric acid(HNO3) is a strong oxidising agent. The Hydrogen gas produced during its reaction with metal gets oxidised to H2O, hence no hydrogen gas is produced.
