“Bigha” is a traditional term used for agricultural land measurements in most parts of India by farmers. eg., Assam, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, and Maharashtra.

However, the word 'bigha' is not fixed & has various values in all over India.

In Punjab, four bigha is equal to one acre.

In central India, bighas were standardized at 3025 yd2(2529.3 m2) or 5/8 acre (0.2529 hectare).

In Madhya Pradesh, one Katha = 600 square feet (56 m2).

In Rajasthan, one bigha is equal to 1,618.7 square metres (17,424 sq ft).

0.0843 Hectare ( 0.0843 हैक्‍‍‍‍‍‍‍टेयर). = 0.20831 Acre ( 0.20831 एकड).

1 Pucca Bigha. ( एक पक्‍का बिघा ). = 1 sq. Jareeb (एक वर्ग जरीब).

1 Bigha(Assam) = 4 Katha or 20 Lessa or 2880 Sq feet. 1 Sq metre = 10000 Sq cm

In Uttar Pradesh 1 bigha = 20 bissa = around 27000 sq.ft

1 hectare = 2.47 acres. (approx.)

1 Hectare = 6.1772 bighas. (approx.)
