1. Colloidal Solution: a heterogenous mixture of two or more substances in which the substance is evenly suspended in the other. The size of particles in a colloidal solution will be larger than that of a true solution and smaller than suspension.

2. Centrifugation has been used to separate colloids from aqueous solution on the basis of particle size and density. The samples are prefiltered to remove particulate material (by definition through a 0.45-μm filter paper) and then placed in centrifuge tubes.
