Viruses are much smaller. The largest of them are smaller than the smallest bacteria. Unlike bacteria, viruses can't survive without a host. They can only reproduce by attaching themselves to cells.

Viruses are one of the smallest microorganisms . They are so small that they cannot be seen even through an ordinary compound microscope . To observe viruses, special microscopes called electron microscopes are used.
