Explanation:
- Always wear safety goggles when handling large magnets.
- Always wear gloves when handling magnets to prevent pinching.
- Children should NEVER be allowed to play with NEODYMIUM magnets.
- Keep magnets at least 20cm away from sensitive electronic and storage devices.
Magnets do NOT have ‘poles’. Magnets often have ‘ends’ where the magnetic field lines go IN or OUT of the magnet. A small compass does a fine job of locating the regions where the IN and OUT thing is happening.
We label the OUT regions with an ‘N’ and the IN regions with an ‘S’ for historical/geographical reasons.
Magnetic ‘poles’ do not exist. This is why you can cut or break a magnet into a gazillion pieces and you end up with a gazillion magnets.
ALL magnetic fields have their source ultimately with loops of current. Either in electromagnets or electron motion within atoms.
