Saint Peter was fasting due to which he was feeling tired and weak. When he saw the old lady baking cakes on hearth he asked her to give him one cake from her store. But the lady was selfish and greedy so she refused saying that her cakes were to big to give away. So, Saint Peter grew angry and cursed the women saying that she will be changed into a woodpecker and will get her food by boring into the dry wood of trees.
