                    - Most diverse class (middle class - bourgeoisie, urban workers.

                    - Much worse jobs than the nobles

                    - Heavily taxed -> poorest class

                   - Owned 65% of France's total land

The 3rd Estate was upset about the unfair voting in the Estates General (they were 95% of the population but only have 1 vote.) ... Louis called the Estates General because he was a weak ruler who was "bullied" into it by the wealthy/powerful social classes.

The king said that each estate would vote as a body (each estate would get 1 vote). They wanted the vote to be based on the number of members. The Third Estate Declares the National Assembly.
