Answer:

Archaeologists use artifacts and features to learn how people lived in specific times and places. They want to know what these people's daily lives were like, how they were governed, how they interacted with each other, and what they believed and valued.

Answer:

1.   Archaeologists look for patterns in the artifacts they study that give them clues about how the people who made and used them lived. ... Prehistoric archaeology refers to the study of human prehistory, or the period of human history before written records existed. This comprises most of our human past.

2.   I would like to make an outrageous suggestion that would at one stroke provide funds for archaeology and reduce the amount of illegal digging. I would propose that scientific archeological expeditions and governmental authorities sell excavated artifacts on the open market. Such sales would provide substantial funds for the excavation and preservation of archaeological sites and the publication of results. At the same time, they would break the illegal excavator’s grip on the market, thereby decreasing the inducement to engage in illegal activities.
