Answer.

1) We need to separate different components of a mixture to separate the useful components from the non-useful or some harmful components.

(a) Tea leaves are separated from tea.

(b) Pebbles are separated form rice and pulse.

2) In our daily lives we come across so many situations in which we have to separate some substances from a mixture in order to get a suitable substance for use. Some substances are easily separable just by taking out the impurities with hand. This method of separation is known as hand-picking. But some of them cannot be removed by hand, and we need some other methods of separation for such mixtures.

3) An example of a sieve in use in the kitchen in everyday life is a tea filter, which is used to separate tea leaves from water or a pepper grinder and shaker, which allows a certain range of particles of pepper to pass through and fall on the egg and toast.

4) water which collects as droplets on a cold surface when humid air is in contact with it.

"the inside of the cab steamed up with condensation"

5) Flower with joined sepals is Periwinkle (Sadabahar) and Hibiscus (China rose). Flower with separated sepals is Rose and Magnolia

6) High quality documentation ensures selection of right materials from dependable suppliers. Access to documentation supporting qualification, risk assessment and process optimization.

7) This is good for separating a liquid from a solution. For example, water can be separated from salty water by simple distillation. This method works because the water evaporates from the solution, but is then cooled and condensed into a separate container. The salt does not evaporate and so it stays behind.

8) Evaporation. Evaporation is a technique used to separate out homogeneous mixtures where there is one or more dissolved salts. The method drives off the liquid components from the solid components. The process typically involves heating the mixture until no more liquid remains

Ans 1. We will separate husk or dirt particles from a given sample of pulses before cooking by sieving.

Ans 2. Hand-Picking can be used as a method of separation in many ways but one of them is that we can seperate dal from small dirt particles by handpicking.

Ans 3. Sieving of Wheat flour before using it to make food out of it.

Ans 4. Small drops of water that form on a cold surface. technical : the process by which a gas cools and becomes a liquid. : the act or process of making something (such as a piece of writing) shorter : the act or process of condensing something.

Ans 5. China Rose and Hibiscus.

Ans 6. Filtration is a method for separating an insoluble solid from a liquid. When a mixture of sand and water is filtered: the sand stays behind in the filter paper (it becomes the residue ) the water passes through the filter paper (it becomes the filtrate )

Ans 7. Evaporation

Ans 8. Evaporation is a technique used to separate out homogeneous mixtures where there is one or more dissolved salts. The method drives off the liquid components from the solid components.
