in human males there are 23 chromosomes in which the 23rd chromosome is the sex chromosome which contain 2 dissimilar chromosomes 1) 'X' and 2) 'Y' chromosome
but,in females there are 2 ' X' chromosomes so, during reproduction all children inherit one x chromosome from their mother and the other chromosome is inherited from the father. the father may give x or y chromosome ( either x or y) if the chromosome inherited from the father is x then the child is a baby girl as girls contain ( XX chromosomes) but if y chromosome is inherited then the child is a baby boy as ( males contain XY chromosomes)
