 ANSWER:

1]

The risk that the author here is talking about is him going straight into the storm knowing that he did not have enough fuel. He takes this risk because he wanted to reach France where he could spend time with his family and he wanted the English breakfast.

2]

The narrator was flying the old Dakota and was heading towards France and was looking forward to spend some time with his family. On his way, he came across a storm and took the risk to go straight into it knowing that he did not have enough fuel.

Inside the clouds, it was impossible for him to see anything through the darkness. His aeroplane jumped and twisted in the air. All the instruments and the compass stopped working. He tried asking Paris control for help but there was no answer. The radio was dead too. He did not know where to go, there seemed no way out. This was his experience in the storm.

3]

The narrator says this because he was relieved to get out of that plane. He had a very horrifying and unstable experience and that is why he let out a sigh of relief as he came out.

4]

When the author asked the woman in the control centre about the black aeroplane, she looked at him strangely because according to her, there was only the narrator's aeroplane that appeared on the radar.
