Answer:

INAPPROPRIATE ONLINE BEHAVIOUR:-

We discussed potential issues at length before the launch of each pilot, and came up with a list of likely flashpoints which included the following:

• Online bullying

• Inappropriate comments (racially or sexually orientated)

• Uploading inappropriate material (adult / illegal / anti-social )

• Accessing inappropriate sites (anti-social or illegal behaviour / adult content)

• Breaching copyright laws

APPROPRIATE ONLINE BEHAVIOUR:-

• First and foremost, do good! Be respectful and be kind. Help create the sort of University community on social media that we all want to work, study, live and play in - a community where we look out for one another.

Tips and guidelines:-

• Update the privacy settings on your accounts so that you protect your personal information. Don’t automatically save passwords on shared computers or devices.

• Respect the privacy of others. Don’t tag them in photos or places, or share their posts, without their permission.

• If you see inappropriate social media behaviour, clearly ask for it to stop and keep a record of your request. If the behaviour doesn’t stop, do not engage further. Things you can do in these instances are:

• Report concerning online behaviour

Block unwanted messages and posts on social media sites

• Delete or block the person who is behaving this way

• Keep evidence of the behaviour (save texts or emails, and/or take screenshots of social media sites)

• Get help and support.

Constitutes appropriate and inappropriate online behavior

  • When someone acts out and gets in trouble for what they do, that is considered an inappropriate behaviour. Regarding appropriate behaviour, it refers to when someone acts appropriately and maybe receives a reward. EXAMPLE: If a child pushes another child to the ground, they will face repercussions.
  • behaviour that society's members would find acceptable. Examples include giving to those in need or refraining from being judgmental of others based on their affiliation with a certain group.
  • Posts that are harsh, disrespectful, disseminate rumours or gossip, racist, sexist, homophobic, belittle others, harass or bully them, threaten them, or are otherwise unwelcome by the recipient are not acceptable.
  • Sharing, "liking," or tagging other people in posts like these is also not acceptable.
  • A wide range of actions that people take in social settings to facilitate their integration with others are considered to be appropriate behaviours. This category of behaviours includes, but is not limited to, social behaviours broadly defined, such as social initia- tions and shared attention or sharing.
