Given 22x+y = 4x-y-3 = 1

22x+y = 22(x-y-3)

22x+y = 22x-2y—6

Comparing the powers of 2 on both sides

2x + y = 2x – 2y – 6= 0

3y = -6

y = -2y – 6

y = -2

2x+y=0=2x - 2 = 0
