Answer:

18%

Because it is an intra state transaction and they are asking for GST. Not SGST or CGST.

Given:  a dealer in Lucknow (UP) supplies articles to another dealer in Kanpur (UP) with a rate of GST 18%

To Find :  tax levied under GST

Solution:

GST is Goods and service tax

this is applicable when good or service sold which comes under regime of GST.

GST is levied based on nature of transactions

There are Different applicable Rates

5 % , 12% , 18 % and 28 %  ( Few others in special cases)

Interstate - Between Different states  Complete GST is levied as IGST

IGST - Interstate GST

 Intra state - with in Same state GST is broken in 2 Equal parts

CGST = SGST = GST/2

CGST = Central GST

SGST = State GST

Here Both parties are in same state UP

Hence CGST and SGST need to be applied half of GST Rate

CGST = 18/2 = 9 %

SGST = 18/2 = 9 %

tax levied under GST is:

CGST = SGST = 9 %
