 \tan(a ) =  \frac{x}{ \sqrt{3}x  } =  \frac{1}{ \sqrt{3} }

 \tan(a)  =  \frac{1}{ \sqrt{3} }  =  \tan(30)

so a=30°

2) Let the length of shadow be x

then

 \frac{12}{x}  =  \tan(45 )  = 1

x=12m

so the length of the shadow is 12m
