u= 49m/s Given

v = 0m/s ( the stone will stop at a point in air )

a = -9.8m/s^2. ( - mark because the stone is moving against the gravity)

we know that V= u+at

therefore putting value will give

0 = 49 +(-9.8)t

9.8t = 49

t = 49/9.3

t = 5 sec

since it take 5 sec to go and we know the take taken by an object in going upwards the same time will be taken to come downwards so the total time is 5+5 = 10 sec ..

the max height will be given by the formula

v^2 = U^2 +2as

putting the value we get

0 = (49)^2 + 2(-9.8)s

after solving the answer will be

S = 122.5 m
