We are given the following points:

P(0,-5)

Q(3,0)

R(0,7) and

S(5,-2)

To find:

Which points are on y axis?

Solution:

The points P(0, -5) and R(0, 7) lie on y axis.

Please refer to the graph attached with the points plotted.

y axis is the vertical axis and

x axis is the horizontal axis.

Both the axis are shown and labeled properly.

There is one more method other than plotting it on the Graph to find out whether a point is on y axis.

The method is simple, we just have to observe the values of x coordinates.

If we have the value of x coordinate as 0, the point will be on y axis.

x = 0 represents a line which is coincident with y axis.

OR

In other words, the line x = 0 represents the y axis.

So, as per above discussion, the points P(0, -5) and R(0, 7) are on y axis.
