Side is increased by 20%

let initial length of side be x.

increased length =x+20%(x)

=1.2x

initial area = x(x)=x2

increased area = (1.2x)(1.2x)=(1.44x2)

percent increase in area= x21.44x2−x2×100

=0.44×100

percentage increase in are =44%

so... option d) 44%

hope it helps...
