Answer:

Explanation:

a) total resistance of the circuit= 6+ 9+ 21

                                                  = 36 ohms

b) current (I) = V/R

                      = 12/36

                       =  0.33 A

 c) V= IR

        = 0.33 X 21

        = 6.93 V

(a). The total resistance of the circuit is 36 ohm

(b). The current through the circuit is 0.33 A.

(c). The potential difference across the 21 ohm resistor is 6.93 V.

Explanation:

Given that,

Voltage = 12 V

First resistance = 6 ohm

Second resistance = 9 ohm

Third resistance = 21 ohm

(a). We need to calculate the total resistance of the circuit.

Using formula of total resistance

R=R_{1}+R_{2}+R_{3}

Put the value into the formula

R=6+9+21

R=36\ \Omega

(b). We need to calculate the current through the circuit

Using ohm's law

V=IR

I=\dfrac{V}{R}

Put the value into the formula

I=\dfrac{12}{36}

I=0.33\ A

(c). We need to calculate the potential difference across the 21 ohm resistor

Using formula of potential difference

V= IR

Put the value into the formula

V=0.33\times21

V=6.93\ V

Hence, (a). The total resistance of the circuit is 36 ohm

(b). The current through the circuit is 0.33 A.

(c). The potential difference across the 21 ohm resistor is 6.93 V.
