1.If x and y be rational and irrational numbers respectively.
i)Is x+y necessarily a rational number?
ii)Is x×y necessarily irrational?
Give an example in support of your answer.​

ex. 2+√5

(2)xy is Irrational .

Answer:x+y is necessarily irrational no.

But

x*y can be either rational or irrational.It can be rational only when x=0

Ex-

0*(any no.) =0 which is rational

In other cases it will be irrational.
