x-y=6

x=6+y (1)

xy=10(2)

using (1)in (2)

6+y+y=10

2y=10-6

y=4/2

y=2

using y in (1)

x=6+2

x=8

now x^2+y^2=8^2+2^2

x^2+y^2=64+4

x^2+y^2=70
