resolve a problem case - typically the one in front of me, where I’ve spotted a promising solution. After all if there’s no solution, it’s not a problem. It may simply be a feature of reality. And if so, far better knuckle down to working with it rather than “against” it.

respond to a criticism and against a theory of truth - these are two different things. If I am to respond to a criticism I will do so on basis and merit, case by case. I will not attempt to make my on-points response also serve as a case against the other’s “theory of truth.” I will use my own best grasp of truth, respond that way - directly to the substance of the critique. So let’s break these out.
