1. If you swim beneath the surface in salt water, will the pressure be greater
than in fresh water at the same depth? Give a reason for your answer​

Yes because density of salt water is greater than freshwater and pressure is given by,
P=h*rho*g+Po
where rho is the density and pressure increases with density

Yes,if someone swims beneath the surface in salt water then the pressure will be greater than in the fresh water.

Because,

• The salt water has greater amount of physical density than the normal fresh water.

• And,the pressure applied by a liquid and the density of that liquid are related in the following way :

Pressure = Density × Depth × Gravitational acceleration

• Now, according to the question,the depth in equal in both situations.

• And,the gravitational acceleration is constant.

• So,the value of density will become the reason behind the less or more value of the applied pressure because rest of the values are constant.

• Now,we came to know that salt water has greater density,so the salt water will apply more pressure than the fresh water.
