Given:

  • p(x) = 2x² - 7x + k
  • Zeroes of the polynomial are reciprocal of each other.

To Find:

  • Value of k.

Solution:

Let the one zero be α.

  • p(x) = 2x² - 7x + k ---(i)

As we know:

★Sum of zeroes = -b/α

→ α + 1/α = -(-7)/2

→ α² + 1/α = 7/2

→ 2(α² + 1) = 7α

→ 2α² + 2 = 7α

→ 2α² - 7α + 2 = 0 ---(ii)

On comparing (i) & (ii), we get;

→ k = 2

Hence,

  • Value of k = 2
