1) 2x – x = 10 + 30 then x = 40

2) Given

x = 2y ..... ( 1 )

& 4x = 64 .... ( 2 )

now substitute eq 1 in eq 2

then

4(2y) = 64

8y = 64

y = 64/8

y = 8

now substitute y's value in eq 1

then x = 2(8) = 16 then x = 16
