⊙ The finely divided solid or liquid particles suspended in air are called suspended particulate matter.

eg :- Dust , smoke , fly ash etc...

⊙ They remain suspended in air for a long period of time.

1) Dust consist of tiny particles of earth. They are produced by the blowing wind ,heavy traffic on roads ,stone crushers , and construction activity.

They spoil our clothes and reduce visibility. They also produce allergic condition in our body and cause diseases like bronchitis. They also prevents photosynthesis.

2) Smoke is mainly tiny particles of carbon in air. It is produced by burning of fuels like wood , cow dung cakes , kerosene , petroleum etc. It spoil our clothes and blackens the buildings. It attacks our lungs and respiratory system.

3) Fly ash particles formed by burning of coal. It is emmited by the chimneys based thermal plants. They cause irritation in our eyes , skin , nose , throat , and respiratory tract. The continued breathing of it may cause bronchitis and lung cancer.

 <tt > 3 biological water pollutants

⊙ They are mainly cause due to human interference. Some microorganisms like bacteria , algae , fungi etc that contaminate water or lead to human diseases. They cause biological water pollution.

⊙ The three are :-
