Answer:
1.Total 8,000 + the rest =12,000 books.
40% Nepali = 8,000 books.
60% of all books are not Nepali ( 4,800 English+ 7,200 regional = 12,000 is 60% of the rest.
40% of the 60% remaining books are in English (4,800 books = 40%)
The remaining books (60%)are in regional languages = 7,200 books = 60% of the rest.
A grand total of 20,000 books are in the library.
2.i) It is given that 24 % failed in english,
27% failed in maths. Hence percentage of students that failed in either one subject=(24+27-20)- since 20 percent failed in both subjects.
Answer: 31 percent
ii) Students who passed in both subjects=(100-31)%
=69%
iii) Let number of students= x
=69x / 100 = 414
=600.
