Required Answer:-
Exchange of gases in green plants (leaves & stems) takes place through the pores called stomata (a)
Stomata are small pores mostly present in the lower surface of leaves but upper surface in aquatic plants. They help in gaseous exchange during photosynthesis and respiration.
Structure of stomata:-
- They are small pores found on the lower surface of the leaves
- They are guarded by two guard cells which are the only epidermal cell with chlorophyll.
- Stomata opens and closes with respect to turgid/flaccid condition of guard cells.
- The inner pore is known as stomatal pore.
- Some more cells around guard cells are known as subsidiary cells.
