1. In Rutherford alpha scattering experiment why only alpha is used ?
2. We know radioactive substances emits gama, alpha and beta particles then where does beta and gama particles goes when rutherford did his experiment by taking alpha
??

1 because it carries positive charge and magnesium only shine when alpha rays fall on it

I think the lead box absorbs it and the remaining is alpha which is positive

we need it because the neuclus is positive

Sunita1234: How can the lead box absorbed the particles because in photographic experiment it does not absorb any of them and they expose the photographic plates.
