PROTESTERS SET FIRE TO STATE BUSES
16 June 2018
Staff Reporter
Protestors agitating against the release of a controversial film set fire to four
state buses yesterday in the city. The silent protest that started in the morning
turned violent in a few hours as vandals and anti-social elements appeared
on the scene with petrol and threw flaming rags at the buses which were
parked at the Main City Bus Stand. No loss of life or injuries was reported.
The state exchequer suffered a loss of an estimated 20 crores as a result. City
Commissioner SP Khandu spoke to media persons after the violence had been
contained and said that 'miscreants will not be spared'.
