Answer:

Molly bought 55/8 m of cloth, and they both bought 56 1/4 m of cloth in all.

Cloth brought by Irene = 7 3/8 m = 59/8 m

Cloth brought by Molly = 1/2 m less than Irene

                                        = 1/2 m less than 59/8 m

Therefore cloth brought by Molly = 59/8 m - 1/2 m

                                                          = (59-4)/8 m

                                                          = (55)/8 m

Total cloth brought by Irene and Molly = 59/8 m + 55/8 m

                                                                  = (59+55)/8 m

                                                                   = 114/8 m = 57/4 m = 56 1/4 m

Hope you are satisfied by the answer.

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Irene brought = 7 3/8 = 59/8

Molly bought 1/2 less than Irene

To find out how much did Molly buy = 59/8 - 1/2

= 59/8 - 4/8

= 55/8

Molly buy 55/8

To find out how much did they buy altogether = 59/8 + 55/8

= 114/8 = 57/4
