average speed=(total distance)/(total time)
=(1+0.5+0.3)/(3)
=1.8/3 km hr-1
=(18/30)×5/18
=1/6 m s-1
hope it helps

A cyclist travel a distance of

  • 1km in the first hour
  • 0.5km in the second hour
  • 0.3km in the third hour

Avg. Speed

  • = Total Distance / Total time
  • = (1 km + 0.5 km + 0.3 km) / 3 s
  • = (1000 + 500 + 300) m / 3 s
  • = 1800 / 3
  • = 600 m/s
