Knotting a rope is an example of pull.

  • Whenever, we try to knot a rope, we first loosely tie a knot by the basic crisscross method.
  • Then to strengthen the knot, we pull the two ends of that loose knot in the opposite directions of each other.
  • In this case, the amount of pull force that we apply on the two ends of the rope, is directly proportional to the strength of the knot.
  • That's why, a strong knot needs more amount of pull force from both sides.
