1) Lines PQ and line PR touch the circle with center O in the figure in Q and R respectively. If the radius of the circle is = 5 cm and PQ = 12 cm then find the value of OP and PR and PQ.

Let's say radius of the circle is r.

In the Given figure,

OP=OR=Radius=r

Since  OP⊥l and l∥RS

Hence,

Radius OP⊥RS(chord)

RQ=QS=6 unit 

As Q is midpoint of OP

So, OQ=2r

Using Pythagoras theorem in △OQP,

OR2=OQ2+RQ2

r2=(2r)2+62

4r2=r2+144

3r2=144

r2=48 or r≈7 unit

Hence, the radius of the circle is approx 7 unit.
