(1) Living in nuclear families is the latest trend. However,parents of such families often complain about the difficulties in the upbringing of children. There is too
much of everything - demand for things, independence.parties, extravagance, pocket money, etc. Children have
no time for family and studies. Parents are always at loggerheads with their children about all such things.
However, aren't parents themselves responsible for this pitiful state ? Nuclear-family parents have taken away
the basic need of growing youth - which is family, love, attention, and bonding along with moral values.
It is true that both, freedom and individuality must be respected, to maintain the sanctity of family. One
needs to handle children tactfully in order to bridge the ever-widening generation gap. Parents should put their
foot down and fulfil only reasonable demands. Children should be made to understand that their parents have
to meet a lot of expenses and take care of many social obligations. Fifty years ago, people lived happily in joint families. Children loved play and share with their cousins, thus learning to adjust within means. There
was perfect harmony between the generations. People did not know the concept of old-age homes. Family
elders were respected by all, and each family member loved, cared, and was concerned for the young ones.
All family differences were usually solved amicably.
