When we type or enter some information in the computer , we use letters ,numbers or words to represent it in the system. But, a computer uses digits to represent and process this information which we enter is first converted into digital form. We use Decimal Number System in our day to day life while computer uses Binary, Hexa and Octal number systems. So, in this chapter we will learn about these number systems and how a value represented in one number system can be represented or converted into others.

Types of number system are :

a. Decimal number system

b. Octal number system

c. Binary number system

d. Hexadecimal number system
