*Matching the resource development plans with overall national development plans.

3.Land use pattern refers to the way the land is utilised. The Forest cover of the country is less than the prescribed 33% of the total country's land. Forests occupy about 23.81% of the total land surface in India. Total net sown area of India is 46.24% of the total land in the country.

4. Gandhiji voiced his concern about resource conservatio -n in these words, “there is enough for everybody's need and not for anybody's greed.” He placed the greedy and selfish individuals as the root cause for resource depletion at the global level.

5 . * Afforestation: The best way to conserve soil is to increase the area under forest. Indiscriminate felling of the trees should be stopped and efforts should be made to plant trees in new areas.

* Checking shifting cultivation: Checking and reducing shifting cultivation will reduce soil erosion.

* Contour Ploughing:  If ploughing done at right angles to the hill slope, following the natural contours of the hill, the ridges and furrows break the flow of water down the hill. This will prevents soil erosion
