Answer:

SIMILARITIES BETWEEN THE FRENCH AND VENEZUELAN REVOLUTION

The French and Venezuelan revolution are very similar, at least till now. When observing the cause of the two revolutions in relation to Crane Brinton's anatomy, one can easily find similarities. The two revolution consists of all three characteristics Brinton states. For both revolutions, the people are under great economic difficulties and experiencing hardships that seems to be controllable. In addition, there are young, passionate people who are raising their voices to go through radical change. Through the raising of the voices, the revolutionary people aim for more power and influence over the government and political decisions. Moreover, the two revolution's both have long term causes. For the french, it would be the Seven Years War as well as the participation in the American Revolution. For the Venezuela, it would be the factors that caused high crime rates, unemployment rates, etc. The Revolution starts with the people who can't take it any more taking action. For both revolutions, the people demand a change in taxation and a solution to inflations. Moreover, the people of the two revolutions are demanding similar things as well. In Venezuela there has been a great inflation due to the lack of everyday material. Similarly, in France, there has been a inflation of bread which was a crucial part of French citizens daily life. One may also find that a similarity in the division of the people, especially among the high class/politicians. For both revolutions, there has been people from powerful and wealthy positions who has admitted the injustices and are supporting the revolution. From the Venezuelan revolution, Lopez is an great example. Moreover, there are also similarities between the monarchs or, for the Venezuelan revolution, the president. For both revolutions, the monarch/president has decided to use force or was at least planning to use force to suppress the protests. The consequence of this decision of the monarch/president was similar as well. The force had only angered the people more and failed in suppressing them. The monarch's/presidents's failure in use of force and ineffective actions in attempt to stop the revolution had only made them look in-able to rule and a enemy to the people. One could also say that for both revolutions the monarch/president had a lack of understanding of the situation they were in. During the French Revolution, when Louis XVI was captured during his flight to Varennes, he believed that there would be no problem in continuing his journey for he thought that he was still a respected and loved monarch, which he wasn't. He did not understand that most of citizens were full of the revolution. President Maduro had imprisoned Lopez. If he had a better understanding of the infuriated people, he wouldn't have done this for he would have known that the imprisonment would do nothing but anger the citizens more and urge the revolution on. Clearly, Maduro and Louis were lacking understanding
