Can you guys answer like this in algebra
Total is 18
There are three people Gaston, Kari and Soonja
Kari gets 2 times Gaston, Sonja gets 3 times Gaston, Gaston is unknown
Let Gaston be y
Kari is double Gaston which is 2y
Soonja is triple Gaston which is 3y
The equation will be: y + 2y + 3y = 18
Solution add all the y 6y = 18
Y = 18 ÷ 6
Y =3,

1)no.of cups of flour nedded=7 cups

Mary has cups of flours=4 cups

still the no.of cups needed=x

x+4=7

x=7-4=3 cups

2)12-7=5 more roses

3)14×x=168

14x=168

x=12

4)x+47=83

x=83-47=36

5)let x be the smallest number

x+x+2+x+4==105

3x+6=105

3x=99

x=33

x+2=35

x+4=37

6)let x be the smallest number

x+x+2+x+4==135

3x+6=135

3x=129

x=43

x+2=45

x+4=47

7)for one hour bike rent=15+8=23 dollars

Mary paid=47 dollars

no.of hours the bike rented=x

=x×23=47

=23x=47

=x=2.04

=2 hours 4 minutes

9)let the no.of games played by Alex in the last weekend=x

no.of games played by Sam in the last weekend=x+4

total no.of games they played in the last weekend=12

x+x+4=12

2x+4=12

2x=8

x=4

Alex played 4 games in the last weekend.

Sam played 8 games in the last weekend.

10)let the normal rate be x

over time worked rate=x×5/4=5x/4

joel worked 40 hours at normal rate and 12 hours over time

So his salery=(40×x)+(12×(5x/4))=660

40x+15x=660

55x=660

x=12

So,his normal rate for 1 hour= $12

Hope it helps you.
