Given : Maximum temperatures are given in cells C2 to C5

To Find :   average in MS excel

Solution:

MS excel has spread sheet

in form of column and row

C2 , C5 are cells

C2  Means  Column C and row 2

C5 Means  Column C and row 5

Minimum temperatures are given in cells C2 to C5

Hence in C2 , C3 , C4 , C5

In Excel there are inbuilt functions.

She has to use function AVERAGE

She has to write :

=AVERAGE(C2:C5)

This will add all the values from C2 to C5 and divided by the number of values from C2 to C5

Another way to write is

=AVERAGE(C2,C3,C4,C5)

This is generally used when cells are not continuous

This will be tedious if cells are in larger numbers like from C2 to C100

Then u have to typo so many cells

in 1st method just C2:C100 will work

Explanation:

In Microsoft Excel spreadsheet, rows and columns are key components in defining the exact location of any cell. Usually the columns are represented in alphabets (column letter) A, B, C, D, E, F, G, etc and rows are represented by number 1,2,3 etc .

Now in the given case, D2 to D5 are the cells containing D2, D3, D4 and D5 entries. To find out there average there are two formulas;

=Average(D2:D5)

Or

=Average(D2,D3,D4,D5)
