1 min. speech on haste makes waste for class 10

The proverbs like ‘Haste makes waste’, ‘Think before you leap’ are true. Acting on any situation without a moment’s pause for repercussions may lead to outcomes regrettable in hindsight. Why not pause to give our actions a thought/ reflection before doing or even saying things.
As an example, when we lose something in school, the first thought would turn to our immediate neighbour (classmate) or the most mischievous person who plays pranks, in class. If we blame them immediately on realising without checking to ensure other alternatives for the same, it would make for haste and may lead to loss of friend or loss of one’s face, if it turns out otherwise! The reasonable thing would be to give the matter a thought with a cool head for other possibilities and then act on it.
Similarly, when a valuable item is lost at home, shop or any other place, the first suspicion always falls on the helping hands or people from the lower strata of society who work there. So, one needs to be absolutely sure of facts before pointing a finger at or blaming anyone for the loss or misplacement of anything.
Also, it is very normal for people to act in haste in adverse situations. It is very important that one takes a few seconds to collect one’s thoughts and then act. When people are blamed for or accused of something or someone says something wrong about them or their loved ones to their face, or even shouted at for no fault of theirs, it is still wise to give a moment’s pause before acting or reacting to the same. Easier said than done. But if one reacts in haste in life, it may lead to waste or hurts more often than not. So developing the discipline of thinking things through before acting or reacting, is the best way to be on the winning side.
Answer:
Haste makes waste is a saying that is very old. It has been proved to be right, and we often face situations when this proverb comes to our mind. We, humans, are impulsive in nature, and we are always in a hurry to get things done. However, many a times we forget that we need to do it with care and make sure it is done correctly.
When we try to do something in haste more often than not we waste the opportunity by making errors and screw the job up. The proverb is meant to keep reminding us to do our work correctly and in a careful manner than rushing it. Patience and planning are needed to complete the task and do it correctly. The reason we do things in haste is generally due to poor planning. Thus if we wish to finish a work we need to first think about it and plan the finer details before jumping into it. However, sometimes we need to make haste to get our work finished.
Even then we need to take care of the work while doing it. The proverb is a very old saying and is true even after so many years.
