Gone are the days, when there were only just a few career options available! In the modern times, the ever increasing convenience and ease has affected career options available also. Well, zeroing in on your choice of your career is always beneficial. It not only prepares mentally for the coping up of the stress involved in pursuing the opted career, it also gives one the impetus to start doing the training of the basics of the opted career. Students who have a clear and decisive goal setting about their careers tend to be more successful, not only in their career, but other areas of their life as well. In the modern times, younger generation's inclination towards offbeat careers is more than the conventional careers. More students want to opt newer career options such as online work, hotel management, accent coaches, actors, models, fashion designers, interior designers, etc. The trend to jump the band wagon of becoming engineers, doctors, teachers, lawyers, etc is dwindling away. There is no dearth of careers nowadays if you have the right attitude. But the success mantras in any career you opt are still the same. Dedication, commitment, punctuality, targets achievement, and lots of patience.

Explanation:

ASL - Assessment of Speaking and Listening skills.

I am in 11th right now . I am about to give ASl the sixth time .

Listening Task.

You will be given a set of questions . An  audio clip will be played during the task . In this clip there will be 4  short discussions about something like benefits of chocolate , tribes of India or a visit to some place etc . On the basis of these clips 4 different types of questions will be asked which will be corresponding to each discussion . You have to simultaneously answer the questions .  Now the type of question varies . For e.g. they will ask

MCQs.

Choosing the sentences from a group of statements  which are correct according to the speaker

Choosing the correct order of the statements .

Fill in the blanks with one or two words.

The speaker will speak twice so that you can recheck your answers .

I would recommend that you  go through the question paper once before the audio clip is played .

Speaking skills

In this task you will have to speak on a topic . You have to chose it from a set of different topics which will be provided by your teacher before conducing the ASL .

In this task you will have a partner too. After you finish your speech , your partner will ask you 2-3 questions on your topic  .And similarly he will speak too and you will ask him/her questions on his/her topic . Obviously you both cannot choose the same one . You might discuss with your partner  what he/she might ask so you can frame your answer first .A short 2 minute speech is enough .The teacher who will be conducting this  will also ask something to both of you .

After this , a general problem would be put forward to both of you . You both have to display some mutual understanding of the problem and you have to figure out solutions while discussing with your partner . The teacher will also question your solutions . Usually the  teacher will give you these problems beforehand so that you are already prepared with the solutions. So , ultimately your confidence , pronunciation etc will be evaluated .

ASL is no big thing , a walk in the park indeed. So don't stress out . All the best .:D
