Answer:

My role model is Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam. A role model is someone from whom other individual gets inspiration and aspires to be like them and Dr.Kalam has always inspired with his life and world knows him as Missile man, People’s President, Writer,Inspirational Speaker and Simple Personality.

He was born on October 15, 1931 in Rameshwaram,Tamilnadu. He came from a humble background as his father was a boat owner and mother was a housewife. He sold newspapers to support his family financially when he was a kid. In his school years, he was fond of mathematics and described as a bright and hard working student who had a strong desire to learn.

He started his career as scientist in DRDO after graduating from Madras institute of technology. There he got an opportunity to work under renowned scientist Vikram Sarabhai and those are the remarkable days in his life in terms of learning and acquisition of knowledge. While working as project manager at DRDO, he played a crucial role in the development of India’s first indigenous Satellite Launch Vehicle (SLV-III). He was chief project coordinator during Pokhran-2 nuclear tests.

He served as India’s 11th President from 2002-2007 and was undoubtedly one of the most loved politicians of the country.Post presidency, he become the visiting professor in many universities like IIMs,IISC and Anna University and Banaras Hindu University etc.

He had written several best-selling books like Wings of Fire, Ignited Minds: Unleashing the Power Within India and India 2020, those were really inspirational and thought provoking.

On 27 July 2015, Kalam travelled to Shillong to deliver a lecture on “Creating a Livable Planet Earth” at IIM-Shillong. While delivering his speech, after few minutes he collapsed with cardiac arrest and passed away. The missing place of Dr. Kalam can never be filled but his inspiring words will forever be with us and inspire us to do more and more.

He led a simple life, was humble, not a materialistic person became youth icon with his way of living and inspiring us to learn from him.

Finally, I would like to end this my role model story with one of his wonderful quote “You cannot change your future but you can change your habits and surely your habits will change your future”
