• Nutrition is a process in which living organism produce their food or take it from other and change them into simple substance to absorb it and release energy from it.

Mode of nutrition

• There are 2 modes of nutrition

Autotrophic - In this type of nutrition organism make thier own food by the process of photosynthesis using raw materials like co2 , h2o , sunlight. etc.

ex - green plants , some bacteria.

Heterotrophic - In this type of nutrition organism can not make thier own food and depent dorectly or indertly on plants for their food.

ex - humans , animals , non - green plants

Heterotrophic nutrition is divided into :

i) Saprophytic - organism depend on dead and decaying material. they release enzymes and break complex substance into simpler one and then digest it.

ex - yeast , mushroom

ii) Parasitic - live outside or inside body of another organism derive nutrition without killing it .

ex - lice , cuscuta

iii) Holozoic- taking copmlex material and then broke down it into the body with the help of enzymes
