Scientists in China have cloned two bouncing baby monkeys, theoretically opening the door for the cloning of humans.

24 January 2019, scientists from the Institute of Neuroscience (ION) in Shanghai were able to successfully clone monkeys.
- Primates like monkeys and their various other species are the best model organism to study brain disorders, cognitive abilities, etc.
- They have mapped the genes causing human disorders and were able to study extensively the genome of primates.
- This helped them to create five identical clones.
- This means that it will pay the way for cloning humans.
- But the process will be halted because of the human ethical committee who fight for the cause that humans cannot be used as models to clone or treated as commodities, religious agony of playing God, etc.
